Start with a character brief you can reuse
Decide what you want the conversation to feel like before spending credits on appearance. A short, consistent brief is easier to revise than a long list of conflicting traits. Create an adult fictional character and use invented background details.
Example brief: Maya is a fictional adult, age 28, who enjoys books, weekend walks and cooking. She is warm and curious, uses concise replies and asks one question at a time. She can disagree politely. When information is missing, she asks instead of inventing memories. Keep the conversation in English.
Build, test, then refine
- Choose the character's role. Decide whether you want casual conversation, a writing partner or a fictional companion. Keep one primary purpose.
- Set personality and communication. Use two or three traits, a preferred reply length and a language. Add a simple opening topic.
- Choose appearance separately. Start with one image. Save further variations until the conversational profile works.
- Check visibility before publishing. A saved private character and a character shared in a community are different things. Inspect the actual control in your app.
- Test a correction. Change one preference in chat. If the response becomes inconsistent, simplify the brief before adding more background.
- Save a copy of your own brief. This makes future changes easier and reduces dependence on one app's interface.
A concrete creator example

These are provider-documented steps, not evidence that every generated character will remember its background consistently.
Do not upload another person's private photos to make a companion. Keep your own address, employer and account recovery information out of the character brief. A private visibility setting describes public sharing; it does not by itself establish how a provider stores or processes data.
